I have to admit, it was surprisingly good/fresh tasting! It's Joliet, not the coast, and yet our sushi rolls were fresh and clean with bright flavors. Yelp Users score another Victory for our family and trying out new places.

Edo is special to those of us who have travailed the haunts near Joliet, IL.  A place where I lived several years in the oughts, and a suburb of Chicago where many Chicago-ans balk and laugh when you say you come from there.   Because, this place is right near Stateville prison, and the reputation of mob-life is unmistakable!  So, not many go out of the way, and take the drive from Chicago to Crest Hill.

They are missing out on this traditional Suki-Yake, which is a caldroun of soup none will ever forget!  Of course, many may have had the popular variations on Nori (Seaweed) soup.  And,  this is very similar, but I think harder to find, therefore very fulfilling and unique.  I suggest this for take-out, anytime.  Especially, as a reward for personal accomplishments - i.e. ~ finishing a long semester at school, or celebrating a promotion at work, or other rites of passage.

Better when you save for special occasions!  Delectable and hearty, fulfilling in every way.  And, the rest of the menu is impeccable, here.  So, definitely try the other options on the regular days.  I pity those who cannot make the historic trek for this experience of fantastic tradition.

(I just love Suki-Yaki to-go, and let this cool slightly in the fridge!  When it comes it will be PIPING hot!)

The ambiance is lacking but if you can get pass the drab decor sushi ecstasy awaits. We went for my daughter's birthday and did not leave disappointed. We're not the most adventurous sushi eaters, we stick with the basics; chicken teriyaki, shrimp tempura rolls, spicy salmon, and spicy tuna. Basic but delicious. The rice is always perfect, the tempura is always hot and fresh, and the rolls are fat. We left rubbing our tummies and smiling from the joy of experiencing a satisfying meal. If you're in the neighborhood and you value quality food over ambiance, you'll leave rubbing your tummies too.

This is, by far, the best sushi I have ever had. The ingredients are fresh and of excellent quality. I always order the same items, not because I am not open to new suggestions or flavors, but because my family and I will literally crave our favorite items for days until we go in. We always order the Miami roll, the golden scallop roll, the cucumber salad, and edamame which are outstanding. Sometimes we get the calla roll if we are ordering an extra item. ALWAYS amazing!

We had a great dinner and experience at Edo.  The show is great and the food very plentiful and delicious.  The salad dressing is good, but a little sweet.  The soup was delicious.  The meat was flavored perfectly and cooked to perfection.  The restaurant and cooks are very accommodating to kids.  They understand when eating with a 4 and 5 year old you have to go fast, keep the fire coming, and occupy them all at the same time.  We will be back.
